He lives in a pineapple under the sea and word on the street is that he is 10 years old. Talk about a success story - TV, movies, games, and yes, "Spongebob" books - lots of them. If Spongebob Squarepants can get kids reading we say more power to him, Nickelodeon and the entire media franchise. Kids that read become better readers and are more successful in school and in life, it's that simple. So read on and enjoy!
SpongeBob SquarePants was created by former marine biologist Stephen Hillenburg and is one of Nickelodeon's most-watched shows, now broadcast all over the world. Time Magazine named it one of the greatest television shows of all time in 2007. You can watch all but the most current season online at http://www.hulu.com/ - just type Spongebob in the search box. p.s. Spongebob is the one on the right, with fan Andy Rice, Assistant Manager of Sno-Isle Libraries Information Technology department. Andy says that Spongebob's birthday, per his driver's license which is shown in two different episodes, is July 14th, 1986. This makes him 22 years old. The first episode of Spongebob Squarepants was aired on May 1, 1999. The series kicked off in July of the same year.
