Free Health and Happiness at the Library

Attending a community event at your local library may be more than just entertaining - it may improve your health, according to a study from Norway. Researchers who followed more than 50,000 people found that engaging in arts and cultural activities is linked to physical and emotional health. The connection held even when researchers controlled for socio-economic and health factors: free events that are emotionally engaging or creative can boost well-being. Improve your happiness by attending an event at the Oak Harbor Library this month. Here are a few ideas -

Saturday Matinee: The Help - free movie and popcorn on Saturday, January 7 at 2PM. A southern society girl returns from college determined to be a writer in this film based on the book by Kathryn Stockett. Free popcorn provided by the Friends of the Oak Harbor Library.

Learn how to Download eBooks, Movies & Music on Monday, January 9 at 3PM. Register now for this free introductory class on downloading from the Sno-Isle Libraries web site.

Meet local authors as Spirit of Writing contest winners read from their work on Thursday, January 19 at 3PM. Refreshments provided by Whidbey Island Writers Association.

See you at the library! Mary
